Graveside services for Susan “Sue” Pender Hoggett, 96, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. She passed away at her home on Monday, November 12, 2012, following a brief illness. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. Sue was born on December 4, 1915, in Attala County, Mississippi, the daughter of Arthur and Sarah L. Pender. She graduated in 1934 from McAdams High School. In 1940 she moved to Greenville, Mississippi, where she married Laurence Downing Hoggett, her beloved husband of 34 years. Sue enjoyed a full lifetime of activities and service within the Greenville community. She participated in volunteer work with the Greenville Public Schools and the Washington County Cerebral Palsy School. She was an active member of King’s Daughters Circle and several local garden clubs. A dedicated member of First Baptist Church, she found joy and solace in various church activities, including ladies circle meetings and missions study groups. Flowers were a lifelong passion, and a special interest was assisting with the Claxton Garden and preparation of weekly floral arrangements for Sunday sanctuary. Sue was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. Sue is preceded in death by her husband Laurence Hoggett, their two sons Larry and Alan Hoggett, and her seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Hoggett Mixson, her three precious grandchildren, Laurence, Susan, and Rachel Mixson, and a close circle of nieces and nephews.
