Funeral services for Jewel Markham McCoy, 88, of Anguilla were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 31, 2012 at Straight Bayou Baptist Church, Anguilla, MS. She died Friday, December 28, 2012 at her home in Anguilla after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s and congestive heart failure due to kidney disease and diabetes. Burial was in Straight Bayou Cemetery, Anguilla where she was buried beside her husband of 64 years. Arrangements were under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Indianola. Mrs. McCoy was born September 19, 1924 in Hamilton, AL to Thomas Clinton and Ozema Markham. In 1941 she married Ralph McCoy. Mrs. McCoy was an exceptional seamstress with Jockey International where she retired after over thirty years. She was a member of Straight Bayou Baptist Church. Mrs. McCoy was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Clinton Lee, granddaughter, Connie, and her brothers, Braxton and Grafton. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hodnett of Straight Bayou; 2 sons, Thomas McCoy (Wendy) of Los Fresnos, TX and James McCoy of Vicksburg; brother, Edgar Markham of Columbus, MS; sister-in-law, Ursula Markham of Cramerton, NC; and five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Tim Hodnett, Hunter Hodnett, Billy Hodnett, Robert Hodnett, Landon Domino, Richard Jenkins, Kevin McCoy, and Steve McCoy. Honorary pallbearer was Dr. Daniel P. Edney. The family received friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Straight Bayou Baptist Church. The family requests memorials be made to Straight Bayou Baptist Church.
