Thomas Edwin Hughes

Funeral services with Military rites for Thomas Edwin Hughes, 87, of Shaw were at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Roundaway Baptist Church.  He died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Liberty Health and Rehab.  Burial was in Roundaway Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Indianola.  Mr. Hughes was born in Merigold, MS and moved to Roundaway where he attended public school.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during WWII and was part of the invasion of Normandy.  After his discharge he returned to Roundaway where he married Josephine Presgrove who preceded him in death in 1989.  Mr. Hughes was employed with Ludlow and Company and Duo-a-fast Company in Cleveland and was also engaged in farming.  In 1991 he married Annie DeMoney.  He was a member of Roundaway Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for over 60 years. He was also preceded in death by a son, Donnie Thomas Hughes. He is survived by his wife, Annie Hughes of Shaw; a son, Terry Hughes of Clinton; daughter, Jan Stevens of Yazoo City; sister, Sue Strawbridge of Shaw; brother, Hulett Hughes of Hattiesburg; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. The family received friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Roundaway Baptist Church, Indianola on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.
