Funeral services for James Franklin “Jim” Mixson, 61, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at his home following a brief illness. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. Jim was born November 18, 1950, in Springhill, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents James Franklin Mixson and La’Nell Price Kemp. Jim graduated from The Hebron School, Hebron, Maine in 1968. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia, 1972, and remained a loyal Cavalier to the end. He was also a proud brother of the Kappa Alpha Order. Jim received his Juris Doctor from the Jackson School of Law in 1977, and practiced law for thirty-five years. Jim was a keen student of History. He enjoyed reading, and maintained an ever-changing stack of books on his bedside table. Above all else, though, his wife and children were the true joy and passion of his life. His children’s fondest memories of him are playing board games and cards with him on the floor of the family’s living room. He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Ann Hoggett Mixson, their son, Laurence Mixson, and twin daughters, Susan and Rachel Mixson. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Boone Funeral Home.
