Barbara Baldwin Miers

Funeral services for Barbara Clarice Baldwin Miers, 84, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 21, 2013 at First Baptist Church Chapel, Greenville.  She died Friday, January 18, 2013 at her home in Greenville.  Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. Barbara was born in Brookhaven, MS on December 30, 1928 to Owen Wiley Baldwin and Clarice Walker Baldwin.  She grew up in Jackson, MS and graduated from Central High School.  She attended University of Alabama and Belhaven College.  In 1948 she married Walton Lee Miers, Jr. and they made their home in Greenville.  Barbara was a former member of the Greenville Junior Auxillary, the Revelers, the Coterie Club and was a charter member of the Colonial Garden Club.  She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, the Roundtable, and the Billy Ireland Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Miers.  She is survived by her son, Walton Lee Miers III and his wife Cindy of Greenville; two daughters, Marilyn Miers Sutterfield and her husband Jim of Ponchatoula, LA and Dana Miers McClure and her husband Michael of Key West, FL; two sisters, Mary Ann Hammett of Greenville and Lynn Forsythe of Madison; five grandchildren, Walton Lee Miers IV and his wife Elizabeth Ann, John Reynolds Miers, Leigh Ann Sutterfield Herrin, Lauren Sutterfield Lindsey, Christopher Allen Walberg and one great grandchild, Hadley Miers Lindsey. The family wishes to thank special caregiver, Ora Mae Howard and Grace Community Hospice. The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral services on Monday at the church.  In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to First Baptist Church.
