Graveside services for Ruby Gist Lyle, age 93, will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23 in Greenville Cemetery. She died Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the Cleveland Nursing Home. All services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. Mrs. Lyle was born in Greenwood, MS and later moved to Greenville, where she graduated from Greenville High School in 1935. She was employed with Mississippi Power & Light and the Goyer Center. In 1954 she married Walter Lyle, and they made their home in Memphis. She was the secretary of John R. Pepper from 1953 – 2002. In 2002 she returned to Greenville and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005. Survivors include 3 nephews, W.N. “Billy” Gist, Jr. and Paul H. Watson, Jr., both of Greenville, and Billy Bruce Gist of Linwood, Massachusetts; 3 nieces, Lettie Gist Terrell of Yazoo City, MS, Mary Margaret Moore of Winchester, VA, and Mary Frances Terry Gage of Port Gibson, MS; and many great nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 23 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
