Prentiss “Roy” Ross, Jr.

Funeral services for Prentiss L (Roy) Ross, Jr., 68 of Glen Allan will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Lake Washington First Baptist Church in Glen Allan, MS.  He passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the Sharkey Issaquena Community Hospital in Rolling Fork, MS. Burial will be at Greenfield Cemetery in Glen Allan.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home of Greenville, MS.  Roy was born in Greenville, MS on March 15, 1944.  He attended Hollandale Public School at an early age and graduated from Glen Allan High School.  He attended Mississippi Delta Junior College and continued on to Delta State University where he had the honor of being coached in baseball by Dave “Boo” Ferriss.  He was a farmer for 45 years and an avid hunter and fisherman.  He also enjoyed coaching youth baseball.  He is preceded in death by his parents Prentiss Leroy Ross, Sr. and Clarice Livingston Ross; a brother John Livingston (Johnny) Ross all of Glen Allan.  He is survived by wife of 42 years Carolyn Ann Daniels Ross of Glen Allan; a son Prentiss Leeroy (Misty) Ross, III of Rolling Fork, MS; a daughter Jennifer Ross Burns (John Vincent, II) of Madison, MS; one grandson Prentiss Chandler Ross of Rolling Fork and two granddaughters Carrington Olivia Ross of Rolling Fork and Taylor Ross Burns of Madison, MS; a sister Margie Ross Wilson of Glen Allan; two nieces Kelly Wilson Bolls (Patrick) of Greenville, MS and April Melissa Ross of Cary, MS; and other family and friends.  Pallbearers are Dr. Hal Winn, Ray Quong, Clyde Nichols, Kenneth Middleton, Louie Hogue, Waye Windham, Buddy Barr, and Jonathan Reed.  Honorary Pallbearers are Joel Sandifer, Gene Boykin, Jerry Bodie, David Morgan, Lenn Dickerson, Larry Cordell, Major Hogue, Jason Wade, Russ Stigall, Jay Martin, Chris Barr, Barry Barr, Andrew Martin, Will Martin, Tommy Harper, and Leonard Williams.  Brother Jimmy McLendon of Lake Washington First Baptist Church will officiate.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Lake Washington First Baptist Church (1068 Lake Washington Road Eastside or PO Box 258) in Glen Allan, MS  38744; Sharkey-Issaquena Academy (272 Academy Drive) in Rolling Fork, MS  39159; or Arms of Mercy (PO Box 4691) in Greenville, MS 38704.  The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Rolling Fork, MS and Promise Hospital in Vicksburg, MS.  A special thanks to Dr. Daniel Edney of Vickburg, MS, Dr. Andrew George, Dr. Michael Baker and Dr. Dan Jackson of Rolling Fork, MS.
