Funeral services for Dorothy Brown Morson, 81, of Clarksdale and formerly of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Leland. She died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Northwest Regional Medical Center, Clarksdale. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland. Mrs. Morson was raised in Leland and graduated from Leland High School. She attended Baylor University for two years before returning to Mississippi where she graduated from Ole Miss in 1953 with a BS in English and Spanish and did her practice teaching in Tunica. In 1954 she married Andrew Morson and they made their home in Leland where she taught at Leland High School and Leland Academy. Mr. Morson died suddenly in 1974 at which time she joined the staff of Morson and Sterling Oil Company. She also enjoyed working with Leland Tire Service until its sale in 1999. In 2003 she moved to Clarksdale and was the manager of the Tunica Branch of Morson and Windham Oil Company. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leland. She is survived by 2 daughters, Wynn Ruth Windham of Merigold and Joanna M. Boatright of Triangle, VA; a son, John A. Morson of Clarksdale; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Leland. Memorials may be made to French Camp Academy.
