Funeral services for Lamar C. Dorris, Sr., 82, of Glen Allan will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 15 at Lake Washington Baptist Church, Glen Allan. He died Friday, April 12 at the Baptist Medical Center, Jackson. Burial will follow in the Hollandale Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. As a native of Mississippi, Mr. Dorris moved to Holly Bluff at an early age and graduated from high school. He was an eagle scout and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Dorris lived in the Mississippi Delta all of his life and was a well known businessman. He worked for the railroads, in farming, and in banking. He later became an accountant for General Marine Towing, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Blue Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason, where he received his 60 year pin. Mr. Dorris also served as a deacon for many years in the Holly Bluff Baptist Church and the Lake Washington Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Margie Hall Dorris of Glen Allan; a daugher, Liddell Dorris Shoffner (Charles) of Greenville; a son, Lamar C. Dorris, Jr. (Julie) of Holly Bluff; a sister, Peggy R. Dorris of Arkadelphia, AR; and 4 granddaughters. A visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 15 at Lake Washington Baptist Church.
