Kenneth Myles Walcott, Jr.

Funeral services for Kenneth Myles Walcott Jr., 72, of Hollandale will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Hollandale First United Methodist Church. He passed away in Jackson on Saturday, April 13. Burial will follow in the Hollandale Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home. Kenneth was born in Greenville on November 29, 1940, to Kenneth Myles Walcott and Martha Elizabeth Armstrong Walcott. Upon graduation from Hollandale High School he attended Millsaps College here he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He also attended Ole Miss where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. Kenneth also completed graduate coursework at Mississippi State University before returning to Hollandale to farm cotton, soybeans and rice.  He married Martha Winchester “Win” Gordon on August 31,1963, at Galloway United Methodist Church in Jackson. Kenneth was a life long member of Hollandale United Methodist Church where he served as a board member and a member of the Methodist Men’s club. He was active in the Hollandale Lions Club, was a local ASCS committee member, and former officer and board member of the Hollandale Gin company. Kenneth also served as a board member and president of Highland Club on Lake Washington. He was an avid collector of model trains, and enjoyed boating, gardening cooking. His greatest joy in his later years was his family including his wife, children and grandchildren. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Win; his children, Anne Walcott Shepherd and her husband Charles of Southlake, TX, Mary Walcott Steinriede and her husband Wade of Glen Allan, and Kenneth Myles Walcott and his wife Leah of Hernando. Other survivors include his brother, George Dexter Walcott of Greenwood; and grandchildren, William Walcott Shepherd, Andrew Rhodes Shepherd, Caroline Davis Shepherd, Elizabeth Anne Shepherd,Anne Walcott Steinriede, Eleanor Catherine Steinriede, Christian Kayde Walcott and Caleb Kenneth Walcott. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the church sanctuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hollandale Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
