Greenville, MS Funeral services for Marlene Diffey Hairston, age 77, of Greenville and formerly of Scott, MS will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 29 at Benoit Union Church. She died Thursday, November 24 at Legacy Manor Care Center. Burial will follow in the Hollandale Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. Mrs. Hairston was born in Straight Bayou, MS and graduated from Catchings High School in Delta City. She married William D. “Billy” Hairston, Jr. on October 13, 1952, and they made their home in Scott, MS. Mrs. Hairston worked in Quality Control with Delta and Pine Land Company for several years. She was a member of Benoit Union Church. Mrs. Hairston was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Glen Diffey. She is survived by 2 daughters, Verne H. Miller (Steve) of Greenville and Connie M. Eshbach (Cal) of Bridge City, TX; a son, Bill Hairston (Janda) of Wake Forest, NC; 2 sisters, Valerie Wiggins (Isiac) of Clinton, MS and Gail Keith (Phillip) of Oxford, MS; 2 brothers, T.G. Diffey (Linda) of Orlando, FL and Pat Diffey (Valerie) of Atlanta, GA; a sister-in-law, Becky Diffey of Anguilla, MS; and 4 grandchildren, Colin Hairston (Mallory) of Grand Prairie, TX, Alison Reams (Rusty) of Plano, TX, Tyler Hairston of Wake Forest, NC, and Hayes Miller of Greenville. Visitation will be held noon – 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29 at Benoit Union Church. The family requests memorials be made to the church.
