Funeral services for Frances Walker Easter, 86, of Hollandale will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 14 at Hollandale Baptist Church. She died Sunday, August 12 at Sharkey Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. Burial will follow at 5:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sumner, MS. Services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Mrs. Easter was born in Clarksdale, MS on June 25, 1926. She was the daughter of Maud Lucile and William Robert Walker. She grew up in Greenwood, MS and was a graduate of Greenwood High School. Following high school, she worked several years with Staple Cotton. She was a lifelong Baptist.
On November 5, 1949 she married her loving husband, John B. Easter. They lived in Florida for a short time before moving to Hollandale. She was preceded in death by her husband and both of her parents. Mrs. Easter was active in teaching children in an after school program “Sunbeams” at the church. Mrs. Easter was a member of the Hollandale Garden Club, served on the board of Garden Clubs of Mississippi, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. in Mississippi.
Pallbearers for the service will be Bob Burnett, Tim Burnett, Dale Ramsey, Roy Schilling, Kenneth Ingram, and Thomas Hassett. A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 14 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
