James Thomas Wingo, 85, of Greenville went to the Lord peacefully on August 19, 2012. He was a Godly man and a constant example of how to live your life. Whether he was telling stories or just trying to make you smile, his witty sense of humor always kept you entertained. He had a passion for his family who all loved him immensely.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 22 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
James was born in Corinth, MS to Fred Marvin and Eula Mae (Arnett) Wingo. He retired as a supervisor with U.S. Gypsum Company in 1983 after 30 years of time and service. He was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran honorably discharged on November 6, 1946.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years and mother of his children, Elizabeth Pierce Wingo, a sister, Linda Wingo Graves and a brother, Freddie Pugh Wingo. Survivors include his second wife of 8 years, Elizabeth Simpson Wingo, 2 daughters, Janet Wingo Fabick of Greenville and Lisa Wingo White (Dale) of Lafayette, LA; a son, James Thomas “Jimmy” Wingo, Jr. of Canton, GA; a sister, Barbara Wingo Wright of Monroe, LA; a brother, Kenneth Wingo (Gale) of Valrico, FL; stepchildren, Nona Spears (Jim), Lesia Fournier (B.J.), and Bill Simpson (Terry); 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 22 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
