Irene Sather Osborn

Graveside services for Irene Sather Osborn, 83, of Greenville will be at 3:00 p.m., Monday, December 26, 2011 at Greenville Cemetery.  She died Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Delta Regional Medical Center.  Arrangements are under the direction of Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville. Irene was born on February 22, 1928 in Owen, Wisconsin to Ruldoph D. Sather and Laura Moen Sather.  She graduated from high school in Stanley, Wisconsin and from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire.  She then taught first grade in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  There she met and married Otis B. Osborn.  In 1961, she and her husband moved to Leland, MS where he along with his business partners relocated Dillingham Manufacturing Company.  He continued to manufacture furniture there until his death in 1979. In 1963 the family moved to Greenville, MS where she was involved in her children’s activities, which included the Boy and Girl Scouts and the PTA. She was a member of AAUW, the Community Bible Study, the Tuesday Study Club, and the First Prebyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Irene Osborn of Daphne, AL; her son, Clark Sather Osborn, and his son, Christian Sather Osborn, of Greenville, MS; and her son, Otis Burr Osborn II of Suffolk, VA.  She is also survived by a sister, Doris Sather Lampi, and her husband, Joe Lampi, of Highland Park, IL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband as well as by two brothers, Eugene and Curtiss Sather, and a sister, Karine Sather Hovey. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2011 at Boone-Wells Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to French Camp Academy, French Camp, MS, First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, MS or to ARRF of Leland,MS. The family appreciates the health care professionals and caregivers who cared for her and those who extended their kindness to her.
