Ray Ugolini

Funeral services for Ray Ugolini, 92, of Greenville will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 1 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.  He died Friday, September 28 at his home.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.  Services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
 
Mr. Ugolini was born in Greenville and attended St. Rose of Lima Academy and Starling and Central Public Schools.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII and served in the South Pacific Theatre where he received the Bronze Star.  After his discharge in 1945, he was employed on an oil drilling rig, as a dairyman, and as a painting contractor for 25 years.  He was also in construction of radio towers.  Mr. Ugolini was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the AARP.  He was also an avid fisherman.
 
Mr. Ugolini was preceded in death by his wife, Merice Slayton Ugolini, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and 1 grandson.  Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Wright (David) of Edwards; 3 sons, Gerald Ugolini of Greenville, Harold Ugolini (Mimi) of West Virginia, and Frank Ugolini of Birmingham, AL; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
 
Visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 1 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
