Funeral services for Carolyn Hairston Blair Henderson, 92, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2012 at First United Methodist Church. She died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. She was born June 28, 1919 in Columbus, MS to Ralph Pope Blair and Laura May Hairston Blair/Cotton. She graduated from Steven D. Lee High School in Columbus in 1937. She moved to Greenville in 1955 with her first husband, Hunter Wilson Moorhead and her son, Hunter Hairston Moorhead, Sr. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Belvidere Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy, Huguenot Society, Ligon Family Society, Blair Family Society, National Society of Colonial Dames of the XVII Century. She was a member of a pioneer families in Lowndes County, MS and was a 12th generation American and a 7th generation Mississippian. She was preceded in death by her first husband Hunter Wilson Moorhead and her second husband Ernest Broughton Henderson, Jr. She is survived by her son, Hunter Hairston Moorhead, Sr. of Arcola; grandson, Hunter Hairston Moorhead, Jr. of Washington, D.C.; granddaughter, Dawn Moorhead Trahan (Kenneth) of W. Monroe, LA; daughter, Louise Humphreys George (Joseph) of Chattanooga, TN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Jennie Henderson of Greenville; eight great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; many cousins and relatives. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Friday in the Hope Room of First United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church or to a favorite charity.
