Bobby Gene Tharp, Jr.

Funeral services for Bobby Gene Tharp, Jr., 62, of Leland will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home in Greenville. There will be a visitation from Noon until service time. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery, Stoneville, MS (Old Leland Road). He died on Friday, March 7, 2025 at his home.

Mr. Tharp was born October 5th, 1963, in Greenville, MS, to Bobby Gene Tharp Sr. and Peggy Tharp. Bobby grew up in Greenville and later moved to Leland. He was a long-time employee of USG Interiors in Greenville, MS where he retired in 2022 as a General Foreman.

Bobby was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He had a love for the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. He was always outside whether it was cutting grass, grilling or tinkering in the shop on one of his many projects. He was a jack of all trades and a master of most. He had a huge heart and was willing to help anyone.

Bobby was a life-long member of the New Liberty Hunting Club in Stewart, MS. He has served as president of the Club since 2009. He is survived by numerous good friends at the camp and will be greatly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Peggy Tharp and his sister Kathy Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Tharp, of Leland; his four sons Christopher Tharp (Mary Morgan) of Cleveland, Brian Tharp (Mi Randa) of Brandon, Gage Tharp of Benton, AR and Swade Thomas (Bree) of Vicksburg; daughter Nikie Taylor (Jeremy) of Wayside; and brother David Tharp (Lorie) of Brandon, MS.

He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Anslee Tharp(12), Tucker Tharp (7), Victor Gullett (17), Jason Tharp (11), Swade Thomas (4) Cameron Thomas (1), Peyton Taylor (20), Chandler Taylor (12) Archer Taylor (10). He is also survived by countless cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and other extended family members who will forever cherish his memory.

Pallbearers will include Chris Tharp, Brian Tharp, Gage Tharp, Jeremy Taylor, Swade Thomas, and Karman Hollinghead. Honorary Pallbearers will be Adam Tharp and Paxton Tharp.
