Funeral services for Buell Mann Nunnery, Jr., 86, of Greenville, MS, will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery. He passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Baxter Health in Mountain Home, AR. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Buell was born on August 16, 1939, in Bolivar County, MS, to Buell Mann Nunnery, Sr., and Monnie Mosley Nunnery. He attended and graduated from Benoit High School in 1960. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. In 1963, he married Evelyn Dowe, and they made their home in Greenville, where he was part owner New Dixie Fasteners, later working as a sales representative for Lawson Products, Tifco Industries, and was currently working for Group 31 Supply.
Buell was a member of the Greenville Yacht Club, Jesse Brent Boat Racing, a supporter of the Mississippi Burn Center, was a boxing coach, and a member of the First Methodist Church of Benoit. He enjoyed watching Mississippi State sports with family, gardening, and keeping up with friends. Buell was a devoted husband to his wife, especially in her later years as her health declined.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Monnie and Buell M. Nunnery, Sr.; his wife, Evelyn Dowe Nunnery; and a daughter, Deidre Nunnery Ross. Buell is survived by two sons, Buell “Mann” Nunnery III (Lori) of Springdale, AR and Justin Wade Nunnery (Angelique) of Mountain Home, AR; seven grandchildren, Tripp Ross (Amy) of Florence, MS, Taylor Ross Ray (Cliff) of Greenville, MS, Timothy “Dylan” Ross (Ashley) of Greenville, MS, Conner Nunnery Meeks (Jared) of Lucedale, MS, Carder Lee Nunnery of Lucedale, MS, Sarah Brooke Boyette of Sulphur, LA and Cody Wayne Nunnery of Water Valley, MS; 9 great-grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren.
