Gwendolyn “Gwen” Crick Austin, 65, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
Gwen was born on May 11, 1960, and was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Binford Crick and Helen Ruth Crick; her brother, Richard Lane Crick; and her beloved husband, Robert John Austin.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Robert Myles Austin and his wife Ann, and Melyssa Austin Hitchcock and her husband Thomas “Trey” Hitchcock III. She was a proud grandmother to Banyan Kole Hardesty, Thomas Peyton Hitchcock, and Nathaniel Austin Hitchcock, whom she loved dearly.
Gwen is also survived by her brother, Trent Crick and his wife Dana; her sisters, Renee Smith and her husband Mark, and Stephanie Baxter and her husband Bo; along with extended family and friends.
She had a deep love for animals and cared greatly for her family, especially her grandsons, who meant a great deal to her.
A visitation will be held at Boone Funeral Home in Leland, Mississippi, on Thursday, April 2, at 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service. She will be laid to rest at Greenville Cemetery beside her husband, Robert.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter in her honor.
