Graveside services for Johnny Dantzler, 85, of Greenville will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Leland-Stoneville Cemetery. He died on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Delta Health-The Medical Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Johnny was a native of Leland, MS, where he graduated from high school. He began his career with the Illinois Central Railroad, retiring after 40 years. In 1964, he married Sarah McCarty, and they made their home on Shell Lake.
Johnny was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed big family reunions and cooking for family and friends. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. Dantzler and Buena Sanders Dantzler, and by two brothers, Bill Dantzler and Floyd Dantzler.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah McCarty Dantzler; daughter, Melissa Dantzler Stewart; son, John Dantzler (Nancy); sister, Sharon Dantzler; three grandsons, John Dantzler, Jr., Jonathan Dantzler, and Joshua Collin Stewart; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Legacy Manor and Delta Health-The Medical Center Hospice and Delta Area Hospice care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of choice.
