Sandra Louise Stockdale Welsh

Memorial services for Sandra Louise (Stockdale) Welsh, 90, of Greenville, MS, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at St. James Episcopal Church. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. She passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Walter B. Crook Nursing Facility, Ruleville, MS. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville, MS.

Sandy was born in Greenville, MS, on December 11, 1935, to Dorothy Stockdale and Colin LeRoy Stockdale. She graduated from McGehee High School in 1952.

She married Robert (Bob) Welsh in 1956. They remained in Greenville throughout their marriage. Bob passed away in October 2005.

Sandy is survived by their children, Renee Welsh (Michael DeGasperi), Mickie Sandidge (Paul Banchetti), and Robert Welsh (Lea); grandchildren, Emily Pieralisi (Brian), Kathleen DeGasperi (Matt Gormley), Lauren Sandidge (Kelly Scarcliff), Thomas Sandidge (Melonie), and Ellie Welsh; and great-grandchildren, Leo, Val, Haley, Camp, James, Niah, Maddie, and Eloise.

Sandy found joy in four lifelong passions: gardening, music, cooking, and reading. Her backyard English garden welcomed birds, butterflies, and those pesky squirrels. She celebrated with friends at hootenannies, joining her friends at a musical at Delta Center Stage, or watching her great-grandchildren excel with tuba or trumpet accompaniment at a school band program or a vocal performance in Matilda or Beauty and the Beast. She loved serving at family celebrations and holiday tables, her children and grandchildren’s favorite recipes. The librarians at the William Alexander Percy Library will remember her fondly as being a lover of crime thrillers, cherishing the twists and turns of a good mystery. Her Daily Devotional remained at her fingertips. She attended St. James Episcopal Church in Greenville, where she was a member of the choir and altar guild for over 30 years.

Her brother, Colin (Skeets) Stockdale preceded her in death.

Our family remains deeply grateful to the Walter B. Crook caregivers whose kindness, patience, and loving care meant so much and will always be remembered with appreciation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. James Episcopal Church or the Hodding Carter Memorial YMCA.
