Edith Turely Baine

Graveside services for Edith Turley Baine, 66, of El Dorado were held at 4:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Leland-Stoneville Cemetery.  She died Friday, April 13, 2012 at Baptist Health Medical Center, Little Rock.  Local arrangements were under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.  She was born November 29, 1945 in Greenville, MS, the daughter of Edith Waits Turley and George Turley.  She graduated from Leland High School and the University of Mississippi where she received B A E and M A E degrees. Mrs. Baine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado, El Dorado Service League, Phi Mu Sorority, and Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity International.  She was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Union County Humane Society.  She was an El Dorado Jaycettes and later became an El Dorado Jaycee. She was a tree farmer and retired English teacher who taught in Mississippi and El Dorado High School. She is survived by her husband James E. Baine of El Dorado, AR and her son, John A. Baine (Jennifer) of El Dorado, AR. She was a loving wife and mother and will be sorely missed by all.  The family expresses its gratitude to caregivers Antoinette Lovett and Betty Jones who for many years assisted Mrs. Baine. Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in El Dorado on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Loomis officiating.  Dr. Jon Doler of First Baptist Church, Leland, Mrs. Baine’s childhood church, officiated at the graveside service. Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado.
