Starkville, MS A memorial service celebrating the life of Herman Thomas “Tommy” Boone, age 86, of Starkville will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30 at Welch Funeral Home, Starkville. He died peacefully Friday, October 28 at Oktibbeha County Hospital surrounded by family. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, October 31 at Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland. Tommy was born in Leland to William Jack and Mary White Boone on November 12, 1924. He graduated from Leland High School and Delta State University. He served as a Navy Corpsman in World War II and the Korean War. Tommy worked in Computer Services at Mississippi State University for 28 years retiring as Assistant Director. He was a member of the Masonic Order, the First Presbyterian Church in Starkville, and was a Shriner. Tommy was preceded in death by his brother, William Jack “Billy” Boone, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Lillian D. Boone of Starkville; two daughters, Jacque B. Chancellor (Ray) of Harrison, AR and Carol Boone of Cleveland, MS; two granddaughters, Nikki Chancellor (fiance, Cameron Nicholson) of Starkville and Shae C. Rollans (Austin) of Sheridan, AR; a great-granddaughter, Jayden Rollans; and a sister, Mary Ann Majkrzak of Nevada. A visitation will be held 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Welch Funeral Home.
