Helen Rigby Peeples

Funeral services for Helen Rigby Peeples, 91, of Marks and formerly of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011 at First Baptist Church Chapel, Greenville.  She died Monday, October 24, 2011 at Quitman County Nursing Home, Marks.  Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville. Mrs. Peeples was a native of Pope, MS.  She attended Blue Mountain College and graduated from MS State College for Women with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1942. She and her family moved to Greenville in 1948.  Greenville became their home for the next 54 years. During that time she returned to the classroom to receive her degree in education from Delta State University and to teach in the Greenville Public Schools. The hallmark of her life was God’s Word.  She and her family were active members of First Baptist Church, Greenville where she taught Sunday School, Bible Study groups to many different age groups, and served on various committees across the years.  Her influence remains today in the lives of those who sat under her teaching. She is survived by her daughter, Harriett Peeples O’Quin (Donald) of Lambert, MS; grandchildren, Margaret O’Quin Bouler of Batesville, MS and Alan O’Quin (Emily), great grandchildren, Emma-Davis, Mary-Alan, Whit O’Quin all of Brownsville, TN; brothers, Charles Rigby of Huntsville, AL and Bill Rigby of Jackson, MS and sister, Earline Rogers of Madison, MS. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Thursday at First Baptist Church Chapel, Greenville.  Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Greenville or First Baptist Church, Lambert.
