June Stringer Shaffer

Funeral services for June Stringer Shaffer a resident of Indianola, MS will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Indianola, MS.  She passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 11th, surrounded by loved ones. She was 91 and was the eleventh of twelve children. Burial will be in Indianola City Cemetery, Indianola, MS under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Indianola, MS. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Indianola, MS where she sang in the choir for over 30 years.  She was also a former member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Civic League, the Christian Women’s Club, and Delta Kappa Gamma.  She was a retired elementary school teacher of 32 years. She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses Vickie Shaffer Welch and husband Darvin O. Welch, Mitzi Shaffer Cordle and husband Robert Earl Cordle, Jr.  She leaves seven grandchildren and their spouses Brian Welch and wife Sharron Welch, Marianne Lee and husband Jack Lee, Carrie June Tassin and husband George Tassin, III, Amy Vicknair and husband Frank Vicknair, Robert “Bo” Earl Cordle, III, Anna Catherine Cordle, and Mary Caroline Skinner and husband Jeff Skinner.  She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer “Boyd” Shaffer; her father, James Shepard Stringer; and her mother, Annie Virginia Stringer.  She was also preceded in death by four brothers and seven sisters. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Indianola, MS.
