Memorial services for Ruth Wilson Clark Standefer, 93, formerly of Leland will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Leland Presbyterian Church. She died Sunday, July 29, 2012 at North Sunflower Medical Center in Ruleville. Private interment will be held at Leland-Stoneville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland. Ruth was born April 17, 1919 to Ruby Leet and Robert M. Wilson in Leland, MS. She graduated from Leland High School and from MSCW. She began her teaching career in Morgan City where she met and married Ernest Beatty “Tucker” Clark in 1944. They moved to Leland and she continued to teach for many years after his death. In 1973, she married Clyde Standefer. Following his death, she moved to Traceway Manor in Tupelo where she lived until moving to Walter B. Crook Nursing Home in Ruleville in November 2011. Mrs. Standefer was a long-time member of the Leland Presbyterian Church and later the Tupelo Presbyterian Church. Throughout her life she was actively involved in the Presybterian Church including Haiti ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband “Tucker Clark, son, Beatty Clark, husband Clyde Standefer, sister Maude W. Vellines, brothers, Robert Wilson and John Wilson and daughter, Nancy Standefer Kelly. Mrs. Standefer leaves daughters Leet Clark Maggio (John) and Jane Standefer Steen (Bill), son Clyde Standefer and grandchildren, Elizabeth Maggio (Hugh), Jay Maggio (Amy), DeDe Kelly Stramel (Joe), Nancy Steen, Suzy Steen, Cathy Steen and 7 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Leland Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Leland Presbyterian Church or to the charity of choice.
