A memorial service for Esther Elizabeth Bradley Baker of Indianola will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 27 at First Baptist Church, Indianola. She died Friday, December 23rd at Yarborough Total Care in Arcola. Services are under the direction of Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola.
Mrs. Baker was the daughter of the late Nellie Wilkes Bradley and Everett Stumph Bradley. She was a native of Isola, MS having moved to Indianola as a bride in 1937. Mrs. Baker was a graduate of M.S.C.W. She was a member of Colonial Dames and the Daughters of the American Revolution, having served as regent of the David Holmes Chapter. Mrs. Baker was past president of the Indianola Culture Club and of the Indianola Garden Club. She especially enjoyed volunteer work. A member of First Baptist Church, she shared her musical talent for nearly forty years as pianist and violinist.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband, Frank William Baker; a son, Frank Bradley Baker; a daughter, Jane Baker Gibbons; and two sisters and four brothers. She is survived by a son, William Ernest Baker (Lynn) of Indianola; grandchildren, Jeffrey Baker Houston (Michelle) of Madison, Marcella Baker Taylor (Gary) of West Hollywood, CA, Melissa Baker Townsend (Hue) of Belzoni, Amanda Gibbons Glover (Matt) of Birmingham, and Elizabeth Gibbons Thompson (David) of Ridgeland; and three great-grandchildren. Especially devoted caregivers were Ronnie and Mattie Yarborough of Yarborough Total Care in Arcola.
Visitation will be 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 27 at First Baptist Church prior to the memorial service. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 366, Indianola, MS 38751 or to a charity of choice.
