Memorial services for James Kimble Farmer, Jr. 78, of Hattiesburg and formerly of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at his home in Hattiesburg. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. James was born December 9, 1933 in Skene, MS to James Kimble Farmer, Sr. and Lorena G. Farmer. He graduated from Leland High School in 1952 and then played three seasons in the minor league organization of the St. Louis Cardinals. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service. James enjoyed golf, baseball, and painting. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Curtis J. Farmer; and son-in-law, Jim Crawford. He is survived by daughter, Leta F. Crawford of Greenville; sons, Ken Farmer (Pam) of Brentwood, TN and James K. Farmer, III of Ellisville, MS; brother, Raymon Farmer (Beverly) of Belzoni; grandchildren, Cameron Farmer (Erin) of Jackson, Martin Crawford of Starkville and Emily Crawford of Greenville; and one great granddaughter, Amelia Farmer. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. The Rev. John T. Burke will officate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
