Memorial services for Edward Maxwell Fore, Sr., 82, of Hattiesburg will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 10 at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg. He died Saturday, January 6 at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg.
He was born on June 24, 1935 in Brookhaven, MS to the late J.W. and Helen Maxwell Fore. Max graduated from Hollandale High School in 1953. He attended Holmes Jr. College and Ole Miss where he was an active member of the band.
Before beginning his career as a business owner in Hollandale Max served his country in the United States Army as a cryptographer in Korea. He and his wife Bettie moved to Southaven, MS, in 1987. There Max worked in Quality Control for a subsidiary of General Electric. In 2007, Max and Bettie retired to Hattiesburg.
Max is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bettie Allen Fore; two sons, Edward Maxwell Fore, Jr. (Janet) of Cumming, GA, and Stuart Douglas Fore (Shawna) of Spanish Fork, UT; one brother, Michael David Fore (Kathy) of Williamsburg, VA; one sister-in-law, Mary Francis Allen of Houston, TX; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
