Funeral services for Loyd Allen McMahon, Sr., 82, of Hollandale will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 2 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Sunday, February 25 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Lakeview Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mr. McMahon was born in Catchings, MS and moved to Avon at an early age. In 1956 he graduated from Riverside High School then enlisted in the U. S. Army. After his discharge he returned to Avon. He served in the National Guard and worked at U. S. Gypsum, later working as a truck driver for ABF, retiring in 1998. In 1957 he married Lula Bell Worbington, who preceded him in death in 2006. He married Tommie Swindle in 2009.
He is also preceded in death by his parents, BW and Pauline Woods McMahon and a sister, Lena Wade.
He is survived by his wife, Tommie Swindle McMahon of Hollandale; daughter, Rita McMahon Butler (Jeffrey) of Baxterville, MS; son, Loyd McMahon, Jr. (Tammy) of Avon; step-son, Tim Swindle (Paige);two sisters, Ruth Hillhouse of Southaven and Margaret Burress of Southaven; 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and step granddaughter, Elizabeth Swindle.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
