Funeral services for Michael Dale Cardinell, 64, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 2 at First Baptist Church, Greenville. He died Sunday, April 29 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Greencrest Cemetery, Belzoni.
He was born in Greenwood and grew up in Belzoni where he graduated from high school. He then attended Mississippi Delta Community College. In 1977 he married Yvonne Peach and they made their home in Belzoni before moving to Greenville in 1986. Mr. Cardinell was employed as Station Manager at the Navel Space Surveillance Station retiring in 2013.
He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church where he served as church administrator. Mr. Cardinell was also a ham radio operator (WB5VYP) and communicated with people all around the world.
Mr. Cardinell was preceded in death by his parents, Mickel Jerry Cardinell III and Hazel Bearden Cardinell; and a sister Brenda Cardinell Derosier. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Peach Cardinell of Greenville; daughter, Tara Cardinell Carson of Greenville; son, Mickel Jerry “Jay” Cardinell IV of Fairview Alpha, LA; sister, Jerry Cardinell Crum of Belzoni and two grandchildren, Bailey Carson and Kathleen Carson both of Greenville.
There will be a visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 1 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
