Graveside services for J. C. “Buddy” Stern, 96, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 22 at the Greenville Jewish Cemetery. He died Tuesday, March 19 at Magnolia Gardens in Greenville. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
He was a native of Glen Allan where he graduated high school and then graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in business. Mr. Stern enlisted in the U. S. Army and after his discharge he returned to Glen Allan where he and his father owned and operated Jake Stern General Merchandise Store and later owned a Drug Store and was a partner in Mink’s Supper Club. He then moved to Miami, FL where he entered into the Furniture Discount Land in 8 different locations and as General Manager it grew to 16 stores. In 1969 he resigned as General Manager and became self employed at which time he moved to Greenville. He was a member of the Hebrew Union Congregation and also the Elks Club and Italian Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances on September 11, 1993.
He is survived by a nephew, Larry Auerbach (Janet) of Atlanta, GA; niece, Jackie Auerbach of Alexandria, LA; two great nephews, David Auerbach and Jeff Auerbach; and two great nieces, Melissa Rubin and Leigh Lathinghouse.
