Funeral services for Carlene Cefalu, 86, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home in Leland. She passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Yazoo City, MS on May 19, 2019. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery.
She loved her family and friends, tennis, bridge, gardening and dancing. Her favorite dance partner being her husband of 64 years, Victor John Cefalu.
Carlene was born June 1, 1932 in Mount Vernon, MS to father, Carl T. Creilly and Mother, Georgia Iuda Deaton. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Physical Education. She married Victor John Cefalu October 2, 1954 and made their home in Leland, MS. She taught physical education in Greenville, MS, was Park Commissioner in Leland and in later years became a merchant at Cefalu’s Grocery.
Carlene is survived by her husband, Victor Cefalu of Leland, MS. Her children; Cade (Carole) Cefalu of Rowlett, TX; Casheu (Billy) Frey of Yazoo City, MS; Corese (Kendall) Davis of Oxford, MS and Chana (David) McMillen of Dover, MA; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Rose Cefalu.
