Funeral services for Elsie Carroll Skelton, 86, of Jackson and formerly of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. She passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 in Jackson. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Elsie was born on September 17, 1933 in Carroll County, MS to Vardaman and Marie (Thompson) Carroll. She graduated from J.Z. George High School. On April 9, 1954, she married William Earl Skelton. They were married for 35 years. She raised two daughters, Alice and Lori.
Elsie was a Greenville resident of 49 years and lived in Jackson for the remainder of her life.
Elsie worked as a Burler for Greenville Mills/US AX Minster for over 25 years. She enjoyed taking care of babies, being involved with her church, and spending time with her family. She was the ultimate Elvis Presley fan. She was known for her kindness, great cooking, and her direct hotline connection to Jesus. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Skelton, and her father, Vardaman, and mother, Marie Carroll. She is survived by her two daughters, Alice M. Skelton (Jackson, MS), and Lori Skelton Corder (J.R.) (McDonough, GA). Also, by her granddaughter, Regan C. Moreland (Tyler) (McDonough, GA) and grandson, William C. Corder (McDonough, GA).
There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Alzheimer’s Mississippi, 855 Pear Orchard Rd, Ste 501, Ridgeland, MS 39157 with the designation for “Social Workers.”
