Graveside services for Marilyn Ramsey Burns, 67, of Leland will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2020 at Leland-Stoneville Cemetery. She passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020.
Marilyn was born in Arcola, MS on October 15, 1953 to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Paul Ramsey. She grew up in Leland with her parents, Albert and Alice, brother, Frank and sister, Shirley. She graduated from Leland Academy in 1971 and married Wade Harvey Burns, Jr. on January 23, 1976. In May 1983 she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature from the University of South Florida. That same year, in August, she gave birth to her only son, Wade Cody Burns III.
For many years she worked as a licensed cosmetologist in Leland at Linda’s Beauty Shop. She later trained as a black jack dealer and began working at the Las Vegas Casino when it first opened. A few years later she switched to restaurant manager role. She continued in this role at different locations until retiring in 2010.
Marilyn was a great wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was fiercely loyal to all her loved ones. Never one to back down from adversity, she would always face things head-on. There were no better nights than those spent with her watching movies, eating popcorn and a cold coke. She was truly an amazing person who touched everyone’s path that she crossed. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and loved ones.
She is survived by her husband, Wade Burns of Leland; son, Cody Burns (April) of Olive Branch; sister, Shirley Mitchell of Greenville; brother, Frank Ramsey of Alexandria, LA; and two grandchildren, Liam and Tucker Burns.
There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday at Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
