Funeral services for Imogene (Jean) Simmons Freeman, 93, of Brandon and formerly of Leland will be at 4:00 p.m., on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Boone Funeral Home, Leland. She went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at her home in Brandon. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
She was born October 1, 1927 in Roy, AR to S.S. Simmons and Mattie Ray Simmons. She was a long time member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Leland. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest love in life was her family. She was an active member of Eastern Star for more than 50 years, a Past Worthy Matron and Past Grand Representative for the State of Mississippi in the State of Massachusetts.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Mattie Simmons; 4 brothers, Vernis Simmons, Delton Simmons, Elbert Simmons and Walter Simmons; 2 sisters, Arlene Roberts and Pearlene Pipkins; a grandchild, Michelle Dorman and her beloved husband, Charles Freeman. She is survived by 3 sons, Gary Dorman and wife, Martha, of Cleveland, GA, James Dorman and wife, Julie, of Germantown, TN, Stephen Dorman and wife, Lisa, of Brandon, MS and 1 daughter, Patricia Wallace and husband, Kyle, of Hot Springs, AR; 10 grandchildren, Don Dorman, Jay Dorman, Mary West, Jennifer Dorman, Setha Goodwin, Danielle Gonzalez, Charles Dorman, Rachel Dorman, Michael Brenza, Jr. and Troy Robertson; 13 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends she cherished.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 p.m., on Friday, May 7 at Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
