Funeral services for Fay McDonald O’Bryant will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023 at South Main Church of Christ. On December 28, 2022, she passed away peacefully from this life, at the age of 88. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
She was born September 6, 1934 in Quitman, Georgia where she received her education. After graduating high school, she attended Georgia-Florida Business College in Valdosta, GA. In 1956, she moved to Greenville with her husband, Richard McDonald, where they made their permanent home. She was a typist, secretary, and homemaker.
Fay loved the Church and her Church family at South Main Church of Christ. Over the years she was involved in many roles of the Church. She served as a Sunday school teacher, Church secretary, VBS, on the food committee and was an elder’s wife. She was active in the Ladies Bible Class and loved to cook and take food to the sick, shut-ins, and bereaved.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Richard L. McDonald, mother, Ruby Waters, father, Richard Waters, 2 brothers, Roland Waters and Ralph Waters, 2nd husband, Floyd O’Bryant, and son-in-law, David Hallman.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Tina Marie Hallman of Greenville, MS and Lois (Mark) Colvett of Southaven, MS; 4 grandchildren, Russell Hallman of Kansas City, MO, Christy (Wesley) Jacobs of Greenville, MS, Ashley (Jarrett) Qualls of Southaven, MS and Jeremy (Christen) Colvett of Olive Branch, MS and 5 great-grandchildren, Libbie Marie Jacobs, Wes Jacobs, Cooper Qualls, Riley Colvett and Jace Qualls.
There will be a visitation from noon until service time on Saturday at the Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made Sardis Lake Christian Camp, 176 4-H Club Road, Batesville, MS 38606 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
