Eleanor Wasson Fielder

A Celebration of Life service for Eleanor Wasson Fielder, 96, of Leland will be at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Leland. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the church. She passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in Greenville. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

Mrs. Fielder was born on June 3, 1927, in Attala County. At a young age, Eleanor attended French Camp School and later moved to Greenville where she graduated from Greenville High School. She married Fred Fielder of Greenville and made their home in Leland. She and her husband worked and owned Blue and Gold Grocery in Leland for many years. They later owned and operated Sunflower Food Store in Leland. She later became a partner and opened Deer Creek Flower Shop. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Leland for over sixty years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Fielder; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N.O. Wasson and a sister, Jean Wasson.

Survivors include her daughters, Suzanne Fielder Horton (Eddie) of Greenville and Penny Fielder Power (Frank) of Leland; four grandchildren, Heather Thomasson (Dave), Leigh Horton, Eleanor Young (Ryan), and Walt Power (Laura). She leaves six great-grandchildren, Gardener Young, Luke Power, Parkes Young, Olivia Power, Graham Thomasson, and Eliot Thomasson; her brothers, Charles Wasson (Barbara) and Rodger Wasson (Mary Ann).

The family would like to thank her caregiver Lorraine Jackson who was a true friend.
