Funeral services for Mary Lee Adcock of Leland will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2 at First Baptist Church, Leland. She died Wednesday, August 30 at Magnolia Gardens, Greenville. Graveside services will follow in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home.
Mary was born March 13, 1935, the third daughter of Mary and Earl Lee of Ludlow, Mississippi. She graduated from high school in Ludlow and afterwards from Mississippi College with a degree in elementary education. She moved to Leland to begin her teaching career and met and married G.W. “Pat” King in 1958. Pat preceded her in death in 1965, eight days after the birth of their 4th child. Mary married W.J. “Billy” Boone in 1967, and he preceded her in death in 1998. Mary married McKea “Mac” Adcock in 2002, and he preceded her in death in 2021. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Neva Jo Lee Martin in 1993. Mary was a member of the Leland Junior Auxiliary, Leland Deer Creek Garden Club, and First Baptist Church and was a volunteer at Abbie Rogers Civitan Camp for many years. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and will be missed by many.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay King Boone of Leland; 4 sons, George King (Lisa) of Chatham, Mark King (Cindy) of Leland, Earl King (Lorry) of Madison, and Bill Boone (Rebecca) of Hampton Cove, Alabama; a sister, Peggy Lee Allen of Little Rock, Arkansas; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to Abbie Rogers Civitan Camp, 50 Fieldstone, Hattiesburg, MS 39402, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
