Indianola, MS Funeral services for Cassie Jewel Chandler Bennett, 83, of Indianola were 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 1 at Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola. She died Thursday, March 28th, at South Sunflower County Hospital. Burial followed in the Lehrton Cemetery, Ruleville. Services were under the direction of Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola. Mrs. Bennett was born in Ruleville, MS and married Kenneth Bennett on July 20, 1946. They made their home near Sunflower, MS, and she drove a school bus and worked in the cafeteria for the Sunflower County School District. She was known as “Aunt Cassie” to all, whether related or not. Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Sunflower Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968 and by a brother, Albert Chandler. Survivors include 3 sons, Kenneth Barry Bennett of Sunflower, Darryl Eugene Bennett (Debbie) of Jackson, TN, and David Gerald Bennett of Sunflower; 2 sisters, Dorothy Waterman of Mishawaka, IN and Ethel Chapman of Bowie, MD; and 2 brothers, Lester Chandler of Laurel, MS and Clyde Chandler of Mobile, AL. A vistitation was held one hour before the services Monday, April 1 at Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola.
