Funeral services for Oliver “Pete” Lee Williams, 89, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at River Pentecostal Church. He died on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Delta Health-The Medical Center. Burial will be in County Line Cemetery in Glen Allan. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Oliver was born in Leland, MS on June 23, 1934, to Willie Lester Williams and Maither Dickerson Williams and received his education from E.E. Bass. He served in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he returned to Greenville and started his career at Marine Welding. In 1971 started Precision Marine and Engine and was a Pioneer on the river for 60 years. His hobbies included racing dirt late model cars and he also had several inventions.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha M. Williams; daughter, Angela D. Williams Smitherman and her husband Prentiss, and son, Brian L. Williams and his wife, Chastity; 5 grandchildren, Ashlee D. Carnell and her husband, Josh, Richard Smitherman, Kristen McCarty and her husband Alex, Tyler Williams and Addison Williams; and 5 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Carnell, Erin Carnell, Skylar McCarty, Aurora McCarty, and Zayden McCarty.
There will be a visitation at the church before the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
