Graveside services for Laverne “Jim”Newton Hyer, 107, of Hollandale will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Hollandale City Cemetery. She died at Washington Care Center on Friday, June 21, 2024. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mrs. Hyer was born in Sweetwater, AL, and later moved to the Darlove area, graduating from Arcola public schools. She married Henry Barton Hyer, making their home in Darlove where they farmed. Mrs. Hyer was a charter member of Darlove Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, a son, James Barton Hyer, and four grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Fred Hyer (Ronnie) and Jerry Hyer, Sr. (Kay); daughter, Charlotte Huntley; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank Washington Care and Grace Hospice for their care given to Mrs. Hyer.
