Charla Ann Lindsay

Memorial services for Charla Ann (Byars) Lindsay will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home in Greenville.

She was born February 3, 1960, in Amarillo, TX to Charles and Clara.

Charla grew up in her early years in Memphis, TN, and later moved to Shelby, MS, and then to Jackson, MS. She attended Hinds Community College and studied daycare management. While attending college, Charla would meet her husband, Wally Lindsay through her close friend Francis Lindsay.

Wally and Charla would be married in Greenville, MS at St. Joseph Catholic Church, by Charla’s uncle, the late Father Edward Tarsi on September 13, 1980. After a really fun honeymoon in Florida, Charla and Wally would return home to Greenville, MS. In her early years of marriage, Charla enjoyed keeping children in her home and Wally worked as a machinist, at a local machine-cutting company, Marine Gears. As time went on, Charla & Wally would buy a new home, right behind Wally’s Mother’s (Martha Lindsay’s) house. Charla would walk over every afternoon for coffee with her mother-in-law for many years.

Charla would lose her beloved husband, Wally on December 26, 2007, while he was duck hunting with his best friend, Carl, and his brother, Gary. The loss of her husband was very difficult for her as Wally was always there to take care of her and tend to all her needs. In the fall of 2011, Charla would suffer a severe emotional breakdown and moved into Jefferson Manor in Baton Rouge, LA to be close to her brother, Rick and his wife, Grace. Charla remained in Baton Rouge until October 2015 when she would need a more skilled place to live. She would be relocated to Ringgold Nursing Center in Ringgold Louisiana, until the time of her passing.

Charla would have many friends at Ringgold. From residents to the staff of nurses, aides, cooks, and maintenance, Charla would love each and every one of them.

Charla went to be with the Lord, her husband Wally, as well as many relatives on Saturday, August 24, 2024, after her third battle with cancer. Charla was courageous in her fight with cancer and was never afraid to die, because she knew she was going to Heaven. Charla was a devout Catholic her entire life and she practiced faith in her daily life. To know Charla was to know true love. Charla never desired the material things of this world. She only wanted to love everyone she met, and she wanted them to love her in return.

Charla was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Clara Byars, her grandparents, Emilo and Rosa Tarsi, and Charles and Belle Byars, Uncle Edward Tarsi, Uncle Joe Tarsi, Aunt Glory Rivers, and other relatives.

Charla leaves behind her brother Rick and Grace Byars, and their children Michael Byars, Katherine Seacat (Jeff), and Nicole Dupuy. Her beloved uncle, Al Tarsi, and Uncle Vick Tarsi and his wife Bettye.
