Funeral services for Christine Maurice Lindsey, 92, of Greenville and formerly of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home, Leland. She died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Magnolia Gardens, Greenville. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
She was born July 16, 1921 in Shongaloo, LA, the oldest daughter of Duncan D. Hill and Effie Mae Hill. She attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA and went on to get a certificate in Cosmetology, her profession, for more than 50 years.
She married her elementary school sweetheart, Morris “Lou” Lindsey on January 30, 1943. After moving to Leland she was a beautician at The Vogue Beauty Salon for Lorene Laws Gregory, unti her retirement, where she was affectionately known by her customers and friends as “Reecie”. She was an active member of the Leland Garden Club. She also was a member of a group of women known as “The Birthday Girls”. She enjoyed working in her yard, sewing, and having coffee with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 22 years, and her oldest daughter, Sharon Eileen Lindsey.
She is survived by two daughters, Sheila Branton and husband, Dan of Leland, Shellie Noble and husband Dan of Greenville; a sister, Vonceil Lank of Shreveport, LA, a brother in law, Marlon Lindsey and wife Theresa of Round Rock, TX, a niece, Cynthia Burkett of Shreveport, LA and a nephew, Danny Lank and wife Sherri of Keithville, LA; seven grandchildren, Gene Tharp, Lou Tharp and wife Tara, Alan Tharp and Laura Lee Tharp and husband John all of Chattanooga, TN, Daniel Branton of Leland, Will Branton and wife Kelli of Greenville and Trace Howard and husband Trey of Ridgeland, MS; six great grandchildren, Wiliam Branton, Jr., Carson Branton, Lindsey Howard, Mary Noble Howard, Lou Tharp, Jr. and Emmy Tharp.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral services at Boone Funeral Home, Leland. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Leland United Methodist Church.
