Linda Hall Branton passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025. She was 77 years old.
Born in Petal, Mississippi, on August 28, 1947, to Dr. JT and Madge Hall, Linda moved to Leland shortly thereafter, where she began her education before later attending Greenville High School and then MSCW in Columbus, MS.
A lifelong Mississippian, Linda was an active and beloved member of the Greenville community. She was a member of Junior Auxiliary and was proprietor of several of the Delta’s favorite gift shops, including LeFrog and Olde River Gift and Gourmet Shop. Linda found great joy in gardening and cooking, often using treasured recipes passed down from her mother, Madge. She also enjoyed dancing to oldies music, vacationing at the beach, and caring for her beloved dogs. The Holidays were her favorite time. She loved having a full house surrounded by family and friends that she held so close to her heart. Her warmth, creativity, and generous spirit touched all who knew her.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Nolan West Branton of Greenville, MS. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her family including five children: James Shelby Edwards III (Elizabeth Paterson “Beth”), Alice Bell Baker, James Hall Edwards (Elizabeth Ferretti “Liz”), Nolan West Branton, Jr. (Blake Scarbrough), and Virginia “GeGe” Branton Sinclair (Bryan). She also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren: Shelby, Mary McLean, and Emery Edwards; Maloy, Mary Myers, and Chapel Baker; Ava Jayne Sinclair; Powell and James Edwards; and Watson McMillan.
The family would like to acknowledge Linda’s devoted caregiver, Valerie Hall, who brought great joy, comfort, and deep friendship to Linda’s life over the past two years.
A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Leland, MS, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. A graveside burial will follow at Greenville Cemetery. Boone Funeral Home, Inc., is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Linda’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).
