Funeral services for Raymond Otis Smith, Sr., 76, of Glen Allan will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Lake Washington Baptist Church. He died Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Univeristy of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mr. Smith was born at home in Richey, MS on August 22, 1937. He graduated from Hollandale High School in 1956 and was also enlisted with the Mississippi National Guard and then served in the U. S. Air Force. After his discharge he married Jimmie Stevenson making their home in Glen Allan. Mr. Smith was a mechanic in the agriculture business. He was a member of Lake Washington Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon in 1983 and was dedicated to the youth program of the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Mildred Barlow and by a brother, Bill Barlow. He is survived by his wife, Jimmie S. Smith of Glen Allan; daughter, Pam Blanton (Steve) of Starkville; son, Ray Smith, Jr. (Hollie) of Laurel; 3 sisters, Mildred Pierce of Union, Ruth Williams of Rolling Fork and Maire Peeples of Anguilla; 2 brothers, R. L. Barlow of Fresno, CA and Clyde Barlow of Delta City; and 4 grandchildren, Tyler and Sarah Blanton and Austin and Nathan Smith.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Lake Washington Baptist Church.
