Funeral services for Daniel Thomas Branton, Jr., 44,of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Leland First Presbyterian Church. He died Monday, November 10, 2014 at Delta Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Dan graduated from Washington School and attended Delta State University on a partial scholarship. He received the presidential academic fitness award while at Washington and played football and soccer. He participated in the family farming operation. He battled mental illness for many years.
He is survived by his parents, Dan and Sheila Branton; brother, Will Branton (Kelli); and nephews, William and Carson.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Leland First Presbyterian Church. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at DRMC for their help and compassion and also Vicky and Kaye at Greenville Clinic.
