Funeral services for Vera Mae Stephens, 86, of Indianola will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 at Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola. She passed away on March 17, 2015 surrounded by family and friends.
She was born on April 5, 1928 in Booneville, MS to Walter and Auta Mae Huddleston. Vera spent most of her life caring for others. She had a heart for the elderly and served many families over the years sitting with their loved ones.
Two of the things she enjoyed the most in her life were spending time with her girls and cooking for her family. She also took pride in keeping her yard immaculate and had a love for planting flowers.
She is survived by daughters Linda Steed (Ricky) of Roundaway; Debbie Bunting (Bob) of Ridgeland; Teresa Morgan (Craig) of Isola; and Lisa Johnson (Tony) of Indianola; grandchildren Angela Bailey (Mark) of Shaw; Cindy Miller (Bruce) of Pearl; Amber Hunter (Josh) of Freeport, Florida; Jessica McGehee (Allen) of Madison; Anna Morgan Russell of Columbus; Cody Johnson (Sam) of Brandon; and Micah and Brent Morgan of Leland; and great grandchildren Eli & Barrett Hunter, Ayden Miller, James and Maggie McGehee, Chandler Johnson, and Maddox Crowder.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses on the west wing of the South Sunflower County Hospital who fondly nicknamed Vera “Ladybug”, and also to Doctor Eddie Donahoe for the care he has provided over the years.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 at Boone-Card Funeral Home.
