Memorial services for Emmett Thaddeus “Thad” Potter, Jr., 66, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 19 at First Baptist Church in Leland. He died at his home on Tuesday, June 16 after a lengthy illness.
Thad was born on May 15, 1949 to Peggy Reece and Emmett Thaddeus Potter. He grew up in Arcola where he attended public school and later graduated from Hollandale High School in 1967. He attended Mississippi State University. Thad farmed with his family at Tralake and Wayside for over 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Leland and was a member of Black Bayou Hunting Club.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emmett Potter, stepfather, Julian Potter, and sister Bonnie Potter Skelton. He is survived by his wife Suzanne Potter, his children, Shelton, Peyton and Rebecca Potter all of Wayside; his mother, Peggy R. Potter of Arcola and 4 grandchildren, Riley, Maddie, Jacob and Thad.
The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m., Friday, June 19 at First Baptist Church in Leland. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Deer Creek School in Arcola, MS.
