Leonard Frank Signa

Funeral mass for Leonard Frank Signa, Sr., 81, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 21, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at his home. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery. 

Mr. Signa was born on January 23, 1934 in Greenville and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1953. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy serving during the Korean War. Mr. Signa graduated from Hinds Junior College then went to Devry University in Chicago where he received a degree in electronics. 

He married Stella Bernardi of Shaw and they were married for 56 years. Mr. Signa was a police officer for the Greenville Police Department retiring after 20 years of service. He also worked at United States Gypsum Company as a security guard retiring after 15 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a longtime member of Knights of Columbus. 

He is survived by his wife, Stella B. Signa of Greenville; 3 daughters, Phyllis S. Duvall of Virginia Beach, VA, Marjorie S. Hamilton of Fairhope, AL; and Frances S. Wells of Nixa, MO; 4 sons, Leonard F. Signa, Jr. of Cummings, GA, Vincent Signa of Germantown, IL, Howard Signa of Greenville and John Signa of Greenville; sister, Marilyn S. England of Davidson, NC; 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Delta Regional Hospice.
